Mike Santos founded Mike's Hardscape Design LLC in Hillsborough, New Jersey after more than 15 years installing patios, retaining walls, driveways and drainage systems across Somerset, Hunterdon and Mercer County. He is on site for every estimate and stays involved through the final compaction — the design you're sold is the design that gets built.
That hands-on experience shapes how we build. Central New Jersey's clay and shale soils and freeze-thaw winters punish shortcuts, so our base prep, drainage detailing and compaction standards exceed what a fast bid allows for. It's also why we'll tell a homeowner when a smaller, better-built project beats a larger one on the same budget.

We would rather build a smaller patio correctly than a larger one on a thin base. Every job gets the same base depth, drainage detail and compaction, whether it is 200 square feet or 2,000.
